We were very pleased to secure this Microphone filly out of Our Ransom Star, an athletic youngster with a lot going for her on pedigree and physique.

Microphone needs no introduction. A Group 1-winning, Golden Slipper–placed son of Exceed And Excel, he was renowned for his early speed, toughness and racing consistency. His stock are showing those same traits — forward, competitive horses that train on well and are well suited to Australian conditions.

This filly is from Our Ransom Star, a mare by Written Tycoon, adding another strong speed influence to the page. The cross gives us:
• Proven Australian speed lines
• A pedigree geared towards precocity and sprint–mile performance
• A filly that profiles as an early-running type with upside

Physically, she’s a well-balanced filly with a good shoulder, strong hindquarter and an excellent attitude — the type of horse we enjoy having in the barn. She moves well, is light on her feet, and gives every indication she’ll come into work smoothly.

Our filly is currently being broken in with Bradley Franklin in Tasmania an excellent horseman who actually sold this filly at the sale, so Brad already knows her so well.
She’ll head into the stables in Ballarat with a sensible plan aimed at giving her time to furnish, with an eye toward early education and racing as a 2YO if she shows us she’s ready.
